JV appointed as technical partner for Lower Thames Crossing

Highways England has appointed the LTC Cascade joint venture of CH2M, Arcadis and Cowi as technical partner for the planned Lower Thames Crossing.

Chris Taylor, Highways England director of complex infrastructure, said: “A new Lower Thames Crossing will unlock massive economic potential for people in Essex, Kent and the whole UK. We need to have a world class team to ensure that the project we end up taking forward will deliver its full potential, and our technical partner will help us do just that. I’m delighted that LTC Cascade have been appointed to this vital role and I look forward to working with them to deliver this crossing and its legacy for Britain.”

In March, Highways England revealed that it had received almost 30,000 online responses to a consultation on proposals for a multi-billion pound road link across the River Thames.

Highways England is recommending a new road crossing at location C through a bored tunnel.

The proposed road would run from the end of the M2, crossing under the river just east of Gravesend and Tilbury and joining the M25 between junctions 29 and 30.
