Maintenance work boosts May Gurney

Stronger than expected revenues in the highways maintenance division allowed May Gurney to post a bullish trading statement this week ahead of results later this year.

May Gurney said: “The Company’s strong second half has been primarily driven by higher than expected revenues from its local authority highways maintenance business.

“This was due to extra government funding for pothole repair and clients continuing to spend at existing levels ahead of the impact of the Comprehensive Spending Review.”

May Gurney is one of the major players in the UK highways market providing maintenance services for eight County Councils and Surrey;

The contractor is responsible for maintaining  37,276kms  of roads of the total 285,000 kms in the UK.

May Gurney is also a leading provider of street lighting maintaining over 500,000  street lights and illuminated signs across the country.
