The Road Surface Treatment Association’s (RSTA) Annual Conference will take place at the Belfry on 7 April.
The 2016 RSTA conference looks at the future of funding for road maintenance in the UK
and the role that asset management and new accounting rules for local authorities will play
in local roads maintenance. Highways Magazine is acting as a media partner for the event.
Entitled ‘Roads for Prosperity’ speakers include: Roads Minister Andrew Jones who will provide a political perspective on the recent government announcements for investing £18 billion in upgrading and maintaining the UK road network.
Paul Boss, highway asset manager, Staffordshire CC and chair of ADEPT’s Midland service improvement group will give a presentation entitled ‘Whole of government accounts and what it means to local authorities highway asset management’.
Stacy Smith, regional director – north, TRL – Appia will give a presentation entitled ‘A new pavement decision tool for asset management’.
This will look at a new web based pavement decision tool that has been developed free at
the point of use for local authorities and contractors to help guide them through the wide range of maintenance strategies now available in the search for best value.
Finally, Matthew Lugg OBE, director of public services at Mouchel Infrastructure Services and a HMEP advocate, will discuss self-assessment and what it means for local authorities highway maintenance funding.
