Ringway wins £70m highways contract

Ringway has been awarded a highways and street lighting contract with Bracknell Forest Council.

The highways maintenance and works contract is estimated to be worth £10 million a year and will see Ringway delivering all aspects of the highways service, including planned, reactive, emergency, winter and street lighting.

This new contract starts in October 2014 and will run for an initial term of seven years, with a possible further seven years of contract extensions based on performance.

The new contract includes the delivery of street lighting services in the borough which is currently undertaken under a separate commission. This will be a welcome addition to the growing portfolio of Ringway term service contracts which include street lighting maintenance, capital improvement and management specialist services.

Ian Thorpe, Ringway Bracknell Forest divisional manager, said: “We have been working in the area since 2004 and are very much looking forward to building on the achievements so far and delivering a first class highways and street lighting service to the council and residents alike.”

Vincent Paliczka, Bracknell Forest Council’s director of environment culture and communities, said: "The quality of the four bids we analysed in detail for our highway maintenance contract was of the highest order and pricing was very competitive indeed, both of which we believe were related to our extensive use of the HMEP toolkits in preparation to let the contract. Ringway therefore had to submit an excellent bid to succeed and their proposals for future working were very encouraging.  We very much look forward to working with them in the coming years."
