The Highways Agency has announced the appointment of two new directors.
David Brewer will assume the role of director, asset delivery, while David Poole has been given a new position of director, commercial and procurement.
Both have been appointed to the Highways Agency board.
Brewer (pictured top) joins the Highways Agency from Lend Lease where he was chief executive of a large PFI joint venture company. He previously worked for BAA in a number of roles at Gatwick Airport, including delivering a substantial transformation programme prior to the sale of Gatwick in 2010.
He said: “The Highways Agency is widely respected for its profound contribution to our economy and quality of life. I am delighted to be joining during a period of unique opportunity for the organisation.” Brewer will start his role in July.
Poole (pictured right) will bring two existing divisions, commercial and procurement, together into a new directorate that is charged with building strong collaborative working relationships with the Agency’s many suppliers, while reducing unit costs.
He joined the Agency in 2008 as director of the procurement division.
“The Agency and its extended tiers of suppliers have made significant progress in recent years to create a more dynamic environment with a keen focus on service and cost drivers, but we have much more to do,” said Poole. “I am delighted to be taking up this new appointment and look forward to working further with our supply chain to deliver on our service, collaboration and efficiency aspirations.”
