The Institute of Highway Engineers is looking to recruit a new Chief Executive to head the professional body for practitioners in highway and traffic engineering.
The IHE is undergoing some major changes that will see it grow and extend its influence.
The institute plans to increase its membership base, as well as membership participation. It will also become more active in its involvement with other organisations, with local and national government, and with the media.
IHE President, Steve Spender said: “These are exciting times for the IHE. Like many professional bodies, we have been through a tough period, but we have carried out a thorough review of our organisation, and we can confidently report that we are now financially stable, and looking for growth.”
The new chief executive will provide strategic leadership for the Institute in serving the needs of members; manage the activities of the Institute in line with Engineering Council standards; and manage the staff team.
Spender said: “We are looking for someone who can promote the Institute and develop effective relationships with Government, the media, the public and industry partner organisations.
“The right person must have excellent strategic planning and development skills; knowledge and experience of the workings of a professional body; be able to manage budgets; and demonstrate experience in public speaking, report-writing and dealing with media.”
