Twenty new gritters have arrived in Ringway depots across North Yorkshire in preparation for the start of this year’s winter season.
The new gritters are part of a fleet of 89 for Ringway, who operate the highways maintenance contract on behalf of North Yorkshire County Council.
Built by a local North Yorkshire supplier, the gritters replace aging stock, which will help to reduce maintenance costs and are built for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
John Nicholson, Ringway Regional Director, said: “The nature of the winter operation in North Yorkshire requires that a substantial fleet of gritters is needed to meet the demands of the service.
“These new vehicles demonstrate our continued investment in this important contract. Ringway fully appreciate the need to consistently deliver a high level of winter service that both North Yorkshire County Council and local residents expect.”
