ITS (UK) – the UK association for the promotion of intelligent transport systems – will lead a debate on the role of technology in helping to deliver the government’s programme of investment in roads at this year’s Highways SIB (Seeing is Believing).
It is a not-for-profit public/private sector association financed by members' subscriptions, and provides a forum for all organisations concerned with ITS. ITS (UK) work to bring the benefits that ITS can offer in terms of economic efficiency, transport safety, and environmental benefits to the United Kingdom – and at the same time expand the ITS market.
ITS (UK) has a membership of over 150 UK organisations which comprises government departments, local authorities, consultants, manufacturing and service companies, and academic and research institutions.
Secretary general Jennie Martin said: “Highways SIB is a great opportunity for intelligent transport systems manufacturers and service providers to demonstrate their products in realistic conditions and highlights the excellent capabilities of the UK ITS industry.”
Highways Magazine editor Alec Peachey said: “ITS (UK) already has a close affiliation with our sister publication Smart Highways so I’m delighted that they’ve agreed to form part of the conference agenda at Highways SIB. Technology is playing an increasingly important role in the highways sector which is why we’ve incorporated 'A smarter network' zone in the outdoor area. We already have some ITS (UK) members signed up as exhibitors and look forward to welcoming others.”
Highways SIB (Seeing is Believing) is Europe’s only event for indoor showcasing of highway products as well as outdoor demonstrations and testing in all lighting conditions.
The event is taking place from 9-10 November 2016 at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in Leicestershire. It is brought to you by Highways Magazine – the UK’s ONE and only magazine dedicated to the highway maintenance and traffic management industry – and Smart Highways Magazine – the UK’s only ITS and advanced traffic management magazine.
You can download your Highways SIB preliminary conference programme here and register here.
