Christine Allen has been appointed as a director at R&W.
Allen, a chartered civil engineer, has joined the company from Balfour Beatty where she enjoyed a 15?year career.
Most recently employed as contract director for Balfour Beatty Mott MacDonald, Allen was credited with successfully turning around the Highways England Area 4 contract. She is recognised as a collaborative leader and highly effective change agent who – prior to moving to highways maintenance in Area 4 and the £6bn M25 DBFO contract – spent 10 years building new, major highway projects including the A46 Newark to Widmerpool; A3 Hindhead tunnel; and the M1 Junctions 6A to 10 widening project.
Andy Theobald, managing director for R&W, said: “Christine has years of experience in working as a Tier 1 contractor, but vitally she understands how to develop high-performing, successful, client facing teams and enhance customer and supply chain relationships. She is a great fit for R&W as she shares the values that make R&W really successful: working as a ‘one team’, close knit family; looking after each other; and caring for our customers. Christine’s determination and people skills will be instrumental in helping us achieve our vision – to be the contractor and employer of choice across the south of England by 2021.”
Christine joins R&W to support the continued growth of the business, particularly as the organisation positions itself to benefit from the changes happening within Highways England’s Asset Led Delivery Model for procuring highways maintenance services. In her new role, Allen is responsible for leading all of R&W’s support functions including commercial; finance; health & safety; and communications & marketing.
She commented: “I am very excited to be joining R&W during what will prove to be both challenging and rewarding times as Highways England restructure their procurement model. I am looking forward to working within the R&W team to further develop services for our key customers across the south of England.”
