Incepted in 1997 specifically to design and manufacture 2-way radio-linked, battery powered portable traffic lights, SRL were innovators in bringing to market an alternative to the old generator/cable trailer sets, commonplace at the time.

22 years on SRL Traffic Systems Ltd are the leading manufacturer and hirer of portable, temporary and semi-permanent traffic lights.

From humble beginnings having achieved DfT type approval for the 2-way product, SRL alone pioneered the advancement of larger multiphase systems and pedestrian systems never seen beforehand. Quality, reliability and service is at the forefront, and SRL remain the only manufacturer with an unblemished DfT type approval track record.

Building on its manufacturing and sales success as the UK's most reliable systems, in 2010 SRL became the first (and to date only) manufacturer to set up a hire division, offering its product range and support services 24/7 to the Traffic Management industry nationwide.

Within 9 years, a network of 26 strategically placed depots has been established.

The hire fleet has reached over 8,000 signals and 30,000 batteries, with 140+ staff, 150+ vehicles, and SRL is undoubtedly the UK and Europe’s’ largest traffic light hire company. "No" is never an answer. Good quick and cheap is our motto, backed by a fleet service/maintenance system ensuring an unrivalled standard of tested equipment our customers can rely on.

SRL have just invested over £2m in the first delivery of 100 Swarco VMS signs. Already, demand exceeds supply, and further orders have been placed, with deliveries continuing into our fleet for the remainder of 2019. Anticipating increased demand for larger equipment, motorway VMS signs are included in the future orders with Swarco, enabling SRL to offer all our customers a full range of signs. In total, a £7m value of VMS signs will be on the SRL fleet by early 2020.

Further investment and development has been in Portable UTC, cableless Traffic and Pedestrian systems of up to 24 signals via SRL’s £1.5m technology investment in our “New” Euro system, which is currently rolling off of the production line and into the hire fleet.

The "game changer” is SRL's Urban64 division, offering semi-permanent intelligent systems capable of replicating any permanent junction system up to 64 signals in size. Again, another unique offering from SRL, providing the manufacture, programming, installation, hire, support, and decommissioning as a one-stop-shop solution to Local Authorities and Contractors, with the added benefits of full UTC and MOVA.

A further 3 depots have been opened so far for the Urban64 division (taking SRL's depot network to 26 in total) and planning to open more over the next year to fulfil increasing demand.

Whether you require a simple 2-way portable set or a complex Urban64 semipermanent system with UTC connectivity anywhere nationwide, SRL Traffic Systems Ltd are the only company able to provide and support you 24/7.
