Colas achieves new NHSS 30 modular paving certification

Colas has become one of the first contractors in the country to achieve certification for the new National Highways Sector Scheme 30 for installation, maintenance and repair of modular paving.

NHSS 30 was launched in May 2015. BSI assessors visited Colas bases in Leeds and Portsmouth just six months’ later to assess the company’s skills, safety practices, quality and delivery in the realm of modular paving.

“Earning accreditation to NHSS 30 is testament to the dedication and quality of the work our teams do,” said Colas quality manager Lau Vlaar.  “We are a very diverse company which aims to self deliver as much of our work as possible rather than use subcontractors.  External validation under the National Highways Sector Scheme has huge added value in demonstrating that we have a deep understanding of all the services we offer.”

Colas is now certified for 13 of the 26 NHSS quality schemes, and is aiming for three more in 2016, setting a new industry benchmark.

The company has recently been putting its modular paving skills to use close to historic Romsey Abbey in Hampshire resurfacing Church Street in the town centre as part of its framework with Hampshire County Council.
