Dr Howard Robinson, the former chief executive of the Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA), has become the organisation’s chairman.
Dr Robinson (pictured) who is currently director of asphalt preservation provider ASI Solutions, was handed the reins by outgoing chair Tom Foster of Foster Contracting as the senior officers of the RSTA for 2021-22 were appointed at a virtual AGM on 15 April.
Keith Brett of Kiely Bros was appointed senior vice chair and Kevin Amos of Eurovia, junior vice chair.
Dr Robinson said: ‘During these challenging times collaboration and sharing best practice within the highway community is more important than ever and the RSTA is perfectly positioned to advise government, highway authorities and the supply chain as they strive to deliver best value for the public purse.
‘So, in this context I am delighted once again to be able to make a positive contribution in supporting the RSTA management team as they look to grow the association and provide leadership for our industry as well as communicate the work of our members.’
Current RSTA chief executive Paul Boss said: ‘Howard is a familiar face at the RSTA. With his wealth of knowledge in our industry and in his role as MD of ASI, I look forward to working with him as the Association continues to be the focal point for the UK road surface treatments industry, working with government and key client groups, input on best practice development, health and safety and technical issues.
Dr Robinson was chief executive of the RSTA for a decade until 2018 before joining ASI Solutions.
He has been involved with the highway maintenance industry for over 30 years and is a recognised industry expert on road maintenance.
In July 2013 he was made a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.
