Specialist trainers at the National Highways Academy (NHA) are offering 24 highway businesses free strategic management training for owner/directors and senior managers.
NHA have secured funding from CSkills to support the delivery of their Highways Business Inspiration programme, which has been developed in partnership with the University of Lincoln Business School.
The academy is now looking for highways managers throughout the country to take up the free places.
The programme is based on a series of strategic management modules which have been written to reflect the needs of highways businesses and the tendering and business environment they face.
Tutorials focus on issues such as enhancing business capability, planning business direction, financial planning and streamlining business operations.
Kevin Jackson, Head of Operations at NHA said, “We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to businesses across the Highways sector from all over the UK and since all course costs are covered by CSkills we expect demand to be brisk.
"The Business Inspiration concept is one that University of Lincoln developed and successfully implemented for over 30 SMEs in the East Midlands last year, boosting profitability and long term business prospects of many of the participants.
"Working together we have enhanced the programme for highways focussed businesses and can now offer the course at no cost for a limited period, following CSkills support for the programme”
The first course is scheduled to start in early July, with a second course running in September.
Companies can apply for up to two places, which will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
