A frequently AWOL concrete bollard in a Lancashire city is in line for a local business award after becoming a social media star.
Preston’s Fishergate Bollard, which is famous for being knocked off its pedestal by buses has been nominated for the City Star Award run by the Preston Business Improvement District (BID).

The bollard sits at junction at the end of an area of shared space in the Lancashire city.
It has its own Twitter account with – at the time of writing – 2,692 followers.
Asked by the BBC how it felt about being nominated, the bollard replied: ‘Knocked out, and not for the first time.’
It said the recognition was ‘Long overdue’, adding: ‘I always been overlooked, especially by rail replacement busses.’
Asked why it started tweeting, the inanimate and sometimes absent object replied: ‘Twitter is like Fishergate - a shared space, but less dangerous and people know how to use it. And I'm not really one for stony silence.’
