Transport Scotland has reappointed Turner & Townsend, in collaboration with PwC, Waterman and WSP, on a deal worth up to £40m to provide audit and monitoring services.
The multi-disciplinary team was established as the Performance Audit Group (PAG) to carry out auditing and monitoring of contractors working on the technical, financial, and commercial management of maintenance and improvements on the Scottish trunk road network.
Worth £4m a year for an initial six years, with a possibility to extend for a further four, PAG's recent contract win rises from a value of £24m to potentially £40m.
The deal also expands the team’s remit to cover the Design-Build-Finance-Operate contract for the M8/M73/M74, along with the Traffic Scotland Operations and Infrastructure Services Contract (TSOIS).
Turner & Townsend director, Steve Jackson, said: 'It requires a true partnership approach with Transport Scotland and the operating companies to maintain standards along these vital routes. We are delighted to lead the PAG team which brings together the combined expertise of Turner & Townsend, PwC, Waterman and WSP.'
Andrew Blanch, technical director at WSP, said: 'Our WSP local teams in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth will bring world-class expertise in maintenance, asset management and technical advice to PAG, and we’re looking forward to collaborating with our partners to help maintain Scotland’s Trunk Road Network.'
The Scottish Trunk Road Network spans the country linking rural communities and ferry ports with urban centres as well as providing cross-border access to the south.
