Cumberland Council has tendered a new operated plant framework with an estimated value of up to £5.64m.

The framework, which is planned to run for four years from 1 January 2026 until 31 December 2029, is expected to provide the council with a range of operated plant to support ‘an in-house delivery model' of highways maintenance.

Split into five lots – General Wagons; Tractor, Loaders and Excavators; Road Sweepers; Road Surfacing Equipment; and Drain Cleaning Equipment – there is no limit on the amount of suppliers that can be appointed to this framework, but the council has stated that, whilst suppliers can apply to multiple lots on the framework, they may be restricted to the number that they can be accepted on to ‘based on their capacity'.

The enquiry deadline for this framework is 17 October 2025, with tenders due for submission on 3 November 2025. The council has stated that it expects to announce the successful suppliers by 28 November 2025.
