National Highways has kicked off market engagement on a £600m, decade-long contract for the delivery of the A38 Derby Junctions scheme.

Intended to deliver upgrades to the A38/A5111 Kingsway roundabout, the A37/A52 roundabout and the A38/A61 Little Eaton roundabout, the contract is planned to run from 31 January 2028 to 30 January 2038 and will see National Highways appoint a design and build partner for the upgrades to the North and West of Derby City centre.

Before issuing a tender notice, National Highways is planning to host an in-person engagement event in Birmingham on 4 March 2026, during which attendees will be able to discuss the commercial, technical and procurement aspects of the contract, as well as get an overview of the scheme.

A maximum of 100 suppliers will be able to attend the event, with those wishing to take part needing to submit a request by 27 February.

National Highways also plans to offer virtual follow-up meetings after the event to review any topics discussed and provide insight into the feedback collected at the event.

The strategic road network authority plans to publish the tender notice for this contract on 7 December 2026.
