Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council has tendered a new highways surface dressing contract for a select number of roads in its network, with an estimated value of up to £5m.
Initially running from 2 April 2026 to 1 April 2031, the contract also allows for a possible extension to 1 April 2034, which would bring the total run time up to eight years.
Under this new contract, the successful supplier will be expected to carry out surface dressing works on specified roads on an annual basis, with the amount of work needed being determined by the state of the roads and the maintenance budget allocated each year.
While the council noted that the annual spend may vary, Oldham said that it has historically spent roughly £650,000 or more on road surface dressing a year.
The award criteria are: cost 60%, technical quality 30% and social value 10%
Companies that wish to enquire about this contract must do so by 30 November 2025, with tenders due for submission by 5 December.
The council expects to announce the successful tender by 15 March 2026.
