A five-year road maintenance contract with an estimated value of up to £42m has been tendered by Wirral Council.
The council is looking to appoint one supplier to undertake highway infrastructure maintenance and improvement works. These works will be divided into three sections:
- Schemes/footway refurbishments
- Vehicle crossings
- Drainage investigation and repairs/coastal protection
Beginning on 1 April 2026, the contract is expected to last for an initial three years until 31 March 2029, with the possibility of two one-year extensions bringing the total runtime up to five years, ending on 31 March 2031.
The enquiry deadline for this contract is 7 January 2026, with tenders due by 12 January 2026. Following this, the council expects to announce the successful supplier on 26 February 2026.
