Crane explosion leads to closure of M40
A mobile crane unit exploded on the M40 in Buckinghamshire on Wednesday (21 September) night, forcing the closure of the motorway.Nearby residents reported hearing numerous loud explosions and said they felt their properties shake.There were no reports of injuries whilst police were forced to close the southbound carriage at junction 2 as well as one lane of the northbound carriageway.According to the Telegraph, about 35 firefighters and officers tackled the blaze near Gerrards Cross.
