Traffic is now officially running on a single carriageway across the new Naver Bridge in Bettyhill.
Located along the A836, the work has been undertaken by Wills Bros Civil Engineering as part of a £10.9m contract with the Highland Council.
Highways understands that the bridge has been opened to traffic ahead of schedule, thanks to significant efforts over the second half of 2025, with full opening of the bridge expected by the end of August this year.
Welcoming the first cars at the end of last month, the new bridge, which is part of the North Coast 500, is now moving on to the next phase of work.
Starting this week, works are expected to continue until the end of the month and will see the demolition of the existing bridge.
Chair of The Highland Council's Economy and Infrastructure Committee, councillor Ken Gowans, said: ‘This vital transport link is a major north coast project which demonstrates our commitment to improving the infrastructure in rural areas of Highland.'
