Kier has announced that Niki Steel will be joining its executive committee later this summer as chief human resources officer.

With a career spanning over two decades, Ms Steel previously worked for IMI, where she served as chief people officer for sector operations over the past couple of years.

She has worked across a number of industries, including home technology, digital education media and visual effects sectors for companies such as Pearson and Dyson Group.

Once she has taken on her new role in August, Ms Steel will hold a ‘key leadership role' at Kier and will be responsible for supporting the ‘high performance of its c.10,000 people'.

Her appointment to this position follows Kier's announcement earlier this year that it has merged Transportation and Natural Resources and Nuclear and Networks divisions into an ‘infrastructure powerhouse' led by Joe Incutti, with Louisa Finlay taking on the role of chief operating officer.

Ms Steel said: ‘It's an exciting time to be joining Kier, I can see so much opportunity for the Group and I cannot wait to join. Working alongside the executive committee, I am looking forward to getting into the business, hearing and listening to colleagues and supporting them to help drive forward the Group's ambition.'

Stuart Togwell, chief executive for Kier, added: ‘Niki is a fantastic addition to Kier and our executive committee. She is a highly experienced HR and operational leader, with a strong track record of driving performance across organisations in both the UK and across the globe. Her warm, energetic leadership style will play an important role in supporting all of our people and growth ambitions.'
