Holcim Group has appointed Adham El Sharkawy as the new CEO of its UK business, with the interim CEO Danny King remaining with the company as managing director for aggregates, asphalt, and contracting.
Mr El Sharkawy has worked for Holcim for the past 18 years, most recently as the CEO of Holcim El-Djazaïr, the group's Algerian-based business. He has also acted as CEO for Holcim UAE and has over two decades of experience leading businesses, teams, and transformations across the Middle East, Africa, and ‘other growth markets'.
Grant Earnshaw, region head for Western Europe for Holcim, said: ‘I'd like to congratulate Adham on his appointment. He's an excellent leader to take the UK business forward, with vast experience in our business and our industry.

Prior to Mr El Sharkawy taking on this role at the start of the month, Mr King had been acting as interim CEO after Lee Sleight stepped down from the role at the end of April. Mr Sleight was responsible for the company during a transitional period when it rebranded from Aggregate Industries last year and joined 24 other regional Holcim companies and brands to form Holcim UK.
