Vicky Read has announced she will be stepping down as CEO of ChargeUK at the end of this summer.

Announcing the move on LinkedIn, she said she has ‘lived and breathed ChargeUK every day for the best part of four years'.

She first worked as part of a group of ‘charging sector peers' before launching ChargeUK in spring 2023, then she became the organisation's vice-chair for policy and communications during its first year and then CEO for the past two years.

As ChargeUK approaches its third birthday this month, she said it was time for her to ‘pass the baton', but added that she will remain in the role until the summer, albeit with Jarrod Birch (head of policy and public affairs) and Ian McKee (head of communications) ‘taking more front-seat positions'.

Ms Read added that leading the organisation has been ‘the privilege of [her] career' and thanks her 'talented and dedicated team' as well as the ‘support and energy' of three chairs, dozens of board members and ‘an engaged wider membership'.

‘Together,' she concluded, ‘I believe we have firmly established ourselves as the voice sector, engaging with countless ministers, advisors, officials, journalists and stakeholders across the energy and transport sectors, as we build a brand-new infrastructure for the UK. I'd like to thank everyone who has supported me, and the wider team, over the past few years.'
