Applications are now open for the Institute of Highway Engineers' (IHE) bursary programme for this year, providing valuable opportunities for professional development and growth.

The initiative is designed to give back to members and support both aspiring and established professionals by fostering professional growth, encouraging innovation, and promoting inclusivity within the industry.

An additional category has been added this year aimed at individuals working in Academia, either in a teaching or non-teaching capacity.

Early Years Award Bursary: Designed to assist IHE students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in civil or transportation engineering. Offering three awards of £1,000 each, this bursary encourages academic excellence and dedication to the field. 

Professional Registration Bursary: Targeted at IHE members seeking professional registration at IEng or CEng level. This bursary provides up to four awards of £2,500 each and can be used to cover costs such as training, mentoring, or even childcare, helping members overcome financial barriers in their journey towards incorporated / chartered status. 

Personal / Industry Development Bursary: With funding ranging from £1,000 to £20,000, this bursary supports IHE members in pursuing advanced training, certifications, or innovative projects which will have a positive future impact on the industry. 

Academic Bursary: This bursary aims to offer academic staff support to obtain professional registration with the IHE to meet the requirements of the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) in the delivery of civil engineering degrees.
