Norman given permanent role at top of AtkinsRéalis transport

AtkinsRéalis has appointed Justin Norman as managing director of its transportation business for the UK and Ireland with immediate effect, taking on the permanent role after serving in an interim capacity since April this year.

He steps up to the full-time role as his predecessor, Colette Carroll OBE, takes on the position of global market lead for rail at AtkinsRéalis.

Mr Norman, who is a chartered engineer with a background in civil engineering, has been with the business for over 20 years. He first joined Atkins in 2003 and has progressed through senior leadership roles across the UK, Ireland and Europe.

He has previously served as nuclear and international growth director for the UK and Ireland, managing director of AtkinsRéalis' Europe business and, prior to that, managing director of the company's Ireland Business. 

As MD, Mr Norman will lead a team of over 2,000 people with expertise spanning the rail, highways, local transport and maritime sectors. The company's transportation services include strategic consultancy and planning as well as ‘detailed engineering design', digital transformation and operations support.

The largest engineering consultancy in the UK and Ireland, AtkinsRéalis' works across the highways sector includes supporting the design of the Lower Thames Crossing and operating and maintaining the M25 through Connect Plus Services.

It also works on local transport projects and provides strategic consultancy across the sector, such as on National Highways' £27bn Third Road Investment Strategy.
