Gloucestershire's former contract service and structural maintenance manager, David Hicks, has been appointed as highways operations manager for Worcestershire County Council.

Mr Hicks brings with him 22 years of experience at Gloucestershire County Council.

He first started as an area highway representative with the county in 2004, before working his way up through roles including local highways manager, structural maintenance engineer and then lead engineer for structural maintenance before his most recent role.

Prior to his time working in local government, Mr Hicks worked as a buyer for both Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and, before then, TBS Engineering. He also held the position of assistant laboratory manager for Special Steel Group.

Announcing his new position on LinkedIn, he said: ‘I'm excited to start my new job "just up the road".
