The digital mapping company HERE has launched a number of new tools for building maps on its platform.

The company calls the new version of its service – which is currently in beta – HERE XYZ, and says the new functions include live access to uploaded data, flexibility in rendering tools, and cloud services to share your location data.

Achal Prabhakar, vice president of core map engineering at HERE, says: “Location-awareness is the next big thing for products, applications and services. Successful location-awareness depends, however, on location data management. HERE XYZ allows developers and map makers to maximize their creative energy by making it easy to manage location data.

“Making great maps, serving live location data and creating location-aware apps will soon have one thing in common — HERE XYZ.”

HERE’s investors include automotive parts and systems supplier Bosch, chipmaker Intel, and automakers BMW, Audi, and Mercedes.
