The traffic modelling company PTV is holding an event at Intertraffic on Thursday 7th April where, it says, it will allow visitors to "be the first to discover how you can simulate and virtually test the impact of automated vehicles".The lunchtime session, from 11.30 am, will show how the company's software can simulate how driverless vehicles will interact with driven cars and pedestrians."It's no longer just a concept, it is real," explained Miller Crockart, the company's Vice President Global Sales and Marketing, Traffic Software.  "The manufacturers have approached us, the German, American and Japanese automotive companies, telling us they're ready to go with autonomous vehicles, they have their algorithms already prepared and ready to be imported into PTV Vissim so we can simulate the interaction of those vehicles... People have to be aware that the technology is available and can be used very soon."It will come and it'll come quicker than you think."Miller gave a wide-ranging interview to Smart Highways editor Paul Hutton which is well worth six minutes to listen to.  You can hear it below, and visit PTV's lunch presentation at booth 11.401.[audio mp3="http://smarthighways.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/miller-ptv.mp3"][/audio]
