Buses on two routes in London are to be fitted with speed limiters from next month. The Intelligent Speed Adaptation technology uses limits defined on a digital map, and are linked to the engine to ensure the vehicle does not exceed the right speed.47 buses will be fitted with the technology on the 19 and 486 routes, with their effect on road safety analysed.TfL hopes the technology will allow drivers to concentrate on looking for hazards rather than their speedometers. If the trial is successful, it could be introduced across the Capital's fleet of nearly 9,000 vehicles.
