More than a thousand speeding drivers between junctions 7 and 8 of the M6 in the West Midlands were caught by average speed cameras over the weekend.A 40 mph limit has been put in place through roadworks because the two running lanes are much closer together than normal motorway conditions. The local Express and Star newspaper quotes local councillor Jon Hunt saying the figures should be a "wake-up call" for motorists, 'I am surprised because you never hear about people being caught by these cameras.  It's a lesson to everybody to stick to the speed limit," he said.'They are bringing in average speed cameras across the West Midlands and drivers need to start to realise they will get clocked.'
