Hill & Smith Infrastructure Ltd, part of Hill & Smith PLC, specialises in temporary and permanent Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS) and Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) solutions.

We unite two trusted names in road safety and critical infrastructure security – Asset VRS and Hardstaff Barriers – and deliver specialist solutions that protect roads, places and people. We're not just solution providers – we're long-term partners to the infrastructure sector. With decades of combined experience, we bring deep technical knowledge, regulatory understanding and on-the-ground insight to every project.

ASSET VRS is a leading provider of temporary Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS), offering a full range of containment levels for both planned and emergency works. With strategically located depots across the UK, we ensure rapid deployment.

Our steel barriers, Zoneguard and Varioguard, deliver high-performance safety for installers, roadworkers, and road users. Efficiency and safety are central to our operations: using the Asset Drilling Rig (ADR), up to 2,800m of steel barrier can be installed per shift with zero Hand Arm Vibration (HAVs).

We also offer a wide range of concrete barriers designed to maximise site space and meet stringent safety standards:

• RB80: Slim 30cm profile, N2 W1 rated – ideal for contraflows and tight spaces.

• RB140S: Freestanding, H4a containment, W4 working width – perfect for structures and high-containment zones.

• Multibloc: Surface-mounted, unpinned system with N2 W3 containment.

• Maxibloc: Taller barrier offering H4a W5 containment when surface-mounted and H4a W2 when recessed.

Our systems can be combined and fenced to provide continuous protection and safeguard both workers and the public from debris.

Hardstaff Barriers, working alongside ASSET VRS, is an award-winning provider of temporary and permanent road safety barriers, access and delineation solutions. We are a market leader in safety barriers for use on major highway construction projects and the exclusive UK partner of REBLOC, offering their full range of products and having introduced one of the first carbon reduced concrete barriers to the UK market.

With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, our new H1RB 80XA barrier significantly reduces material use and carbon impact – requiring 50% less steel and 20% less concrete than the original H2 RB80XA. A 1,000m installation saves 5,250kg of steel and 40m³ of concrete, using low-carbon concrete that cuts CO2 emissions by 33%.

We also offer free Lunch & Learn sessions, sharing expert insights into the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), specifically CD 377 requirements for road restraint systems.
