Anti-skid surface problems in Worcestershire

Highways Reporters

Blackstone Island on the Bewdley Bypass will be closed for two days next week while emergency works are carried out.

Investigations have found that the anti-skid surfacing on the road requires urgent replacement ahead of the winter months.

Night-time closures to carry out the work are not possible because of the potential for problems in laying the new surface when temperatures drop.

Cllr John Campion, Worcestershire County Councillor for Bewdley, said: "We understand this work will cause some disruption but the repairs are necessary to improve safety ahead of the winter months.

"Everything is being done to keep any inconvenience to motorists and residents to minimum and, as is the case with all works of this nature, our priority is ensuring the town remains 'Open for Business'. We would like to thank people in advance for their patience."
