Gloucestershire County Council has pledged an extra £1m to fix flood-damaged roads following one of the wettest winters on record.
Teams are tackling Gloucestershire's 3,300 miles of road network daily, treating potholes as a priority and fixing smaller defects when they are able to.
Since April 2012 the council has repaired 34,681 potholes in Gloucestershire. But following the recent bad weather the number of defects that need treating has increased.
Some of the £1m extra funding will be spent between now and April on the most urgent landslip schemes and highways teams are already tackling the most damaged roads.
The council is aiming to inspect every pothole it is informed about within 5 days.
Area Highway Manager Jason Humm said: "Our priority will always be the safety of residents and we are quite rightly committed to tackling the biggest potholes and those on the busiest routes as soon as they are identified or reported to us.
"We will always aim to treat minor road defects as soon as we can, but it is essential we prioritise potholes to prevent damage to people's vehicles."
Cllr Will Windsor-Clive, Cabinet member for communities, said: "The Highways team does a tireless job around the county ensuring the roads in greatest need of being treated are fixed quickly and effectively."
