QuikSTATS, part of Kier Group, has been awarded a three-year contract to provide underground utilities mapping to all National Highways teams in a deal worth up to £9m.
From this month, the QuikSTATS service will be implemented for all teams involved in design and groundwork operations across National Highways’ 4,500 miles of motorways and major A roads. The contract will run for an initial three years, with a possible one-year extension.
QuikSTATs will be National Highways' sole service provider for C2 utility stat searches and is required to return the majority of information packs within 30 minutes of the initial request.
These searches find the underground locations of utilities and infrastructure to PAS128-D standards and help protect the workforce and the public by avoiding strikes and identifying any risks associated with breaking ground.
QuikSTAT stated that the service combines both the most recent utility service data and user-generated input, along with additional risk reduction and intelligence layers.
Utilities delivery manager at National Highways, Nick Hearne, said: ‘This new national service will improve early value engineering for major schemes, saving time and reducing costs on projects. The simplicity of adoption and the flexibility of the service will provide us a cost-effective solution, providing a consistent approach to identifying utilities assets in and around our motorways and major A roads.’
Since 2022, QuikSTATS has run operations on roughly 5,800km of the National Highways network across five regions.
