New CEO at FM Conway has huge act to follow

Leading infrastructure services company FM Conway has announced the appointment of Adam Green (pictured) to CEO as Michael Conway MBE steps into the role of chairman.

Adam Green joined FM Conway in November 2019 as managing director for civil engineering, structures, lighting, water and drainage management, traffic management and consultancy.

He has over 30 years’ experience in the industry and has led multi-billion-pound businesses, delivering a diverse range of infrastructure projects.

Mr Green has a mighty pair of shoes to fill however. Mr Conway MBE has been at the helm of the company since 1981 when he bought it from his father, Frank Conway.

From very humble beginnings with just three men and a lorry, he transformed it over the past 39 years into an organisation that now employs over 1,500 people with a turnover of over £325m; and has still managed to keep the family spirit and ethos at the heart of the organisation.

Mr Conway MBE, chairman, commented: 'My father had a dream in 1961, and by 1981 that dream had been realised so I was passed the baton to take the business to the next stage. Today, it gives me great pleasure to pass that baton on once again. It will now enjoy a fresh pair of eyes and a new set of hands to navigate the business into its 60th year and beyond.

'I’ve known Adam for a long time, and when I brought him into the business it was a chance for us both to understand whether this was a good fit. I am pleased to say that It didn’t take long to realise it was right, and so now is the time for Adam to take on the day-to-day operational lead as I assume the role of chairman. I look forward to seeing our great business continue to go from strength to strength under Adam’s leadership as we all adjust to the post COVID-19 era.'

Adam Green, CEO, commented: 'I am both delighted and honoured to take on the prestigious role of CEO of FM Conway. I have long admired the business and am keen to ensure that the strong family values and people remain at the heart of what we do.

'Our unique self-delivery model truly stands us apart from our competitors and I am excited to explore this even further as we look at new technologies to bring greater levels of service to our customers.'
