Cyngor Gwynedd Council has appointed seven contractors to a framework worth up to £60m to provide surfacing and other works across north and mid-Wales.
The NMWTRA (North and Mid Wales Trunk road agent) Surfacing, Civil and Ancillary Framework, was advertised in December 2020 with an estimated value at that time of £100m up to March 2023.
Successful bidders, many of whom have won places on more than one lot within the framework, are:

- Coyle Surfacing
- Hogan Construction
- Roadway Civil Engineering and Surfacing
- Hanson Quarry Products Europe
- Jones Bros
- Ruthin Civil Engineering
- Gerald D Harries
Hogan and Harries are described as SMEs.
The framework will provide surfacing improvements, surfacing maintenance works and emergency/urgent works through 'call off' Works Orders.
It consists of 21 lots, including one for special projects, across dual and single carriageways trunk roads and county roads in Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Powys, Wrexham, and Ynys Mon (Anglesey).
Each lot is estimated at up to £5m and the procurement is described as providing call off works orders with both direct award and mini competition procurement routes, although the special projects lot will not provide direct awards.
The framework is due to run from 1 April 2021 to 2 Apr 2023.
