Derby City Council has tendered a new services framework valued at £128.78m with room to adjust based on local government reorganisation (LGR).

The four-year contract – running from 1 May 2027 to 30 April 2031 – has been split into 11 Lots:

  • Lot 1 - Road Markings & High Friction Surfacing – estimated value of £1.71m
  • Lot 2 - Road Restraint Systems – estimated value of £900,000
  • Lot 3 - Temporary Traffic Management – estimated value of £1.44m
  • Lot 4 - Traffic Signals – estimated value of £10.8m
  • Lot 5 - Multi-Disciplined – estimated value of £36m
  • Lot 6 - Carriageway Maintenance – estimated value of £43.2m
  • Lot 7 - Carriageway and Footway Surface Treatments – estimated value of £10.8m
  • Lot 8 - Hire of Equipment (with/without Operators) – estimated value of £3.68m
  • Lot 9 - Haulage with Driver – estimated value of £2.16m
  • Lot 10 - Supply of Asphalt – estimated value of £11.34m
  • Lot 11 - Highways Resource Support – estimated value of £5.76m

The framework has been designed to support highway maintenance, improvement, construction, specialist services, materials supply, plant hire and ‘associated activities across the highway network and related infrastructure'.

While the notice does state the ‘core value' of the framework is estimated at £71.55m (excluding VAT), the council has said that it ‘reserves the right to vary the scope' in anticipation of LGR. Due to this, it added that ‘should additional requirements arise' thanks to LGR, the total value ‘may increase to a maximum' of £107.3m, or £128.78m including VAT.

Suppliers interested in the framework have until 20 October to enquire, with requests to participate then due by 2 November.

The council then expects to announce the successful suppliers by 1 December.
