Kent County Council has appointed five suppliers to its new £100m maintenance support contract.
Running for an initial term from this month to April 2029, the contract also allows for an optional extension from 8 April 2029 to 7 April 2031 and is split into six lots for the different areas covered by the contract:
- Lot 1: Dartford and Gravesham
- Lot 2: Sevenoaks & Tunbridge Wells
- Lot 3: Maidstone and Tonbridge & Malling
- Lot 4: Swale and Canterbury
- Lot 5: Thanet and Dover
- Lot 6: Ashford and Folkestone & Hythe
Elm Surfacing, a Kent-based contractor, was appointed as the supplier for both Lots 1 and 5. For the rest of the lots, G&J Steele Plant Hire was appointed to Lot 2, Henderson & Taylor (Public Works) was appointed to Lot 3, Henderson & Taylor Public Works was awarded the contract for Lot 4, with C.W. Surfacing taking on the contract for Lot 6.
Each of the contracts are valued at roughly £16.6m and will see the suppliers deliver pothole repairs, small‑ to medium‑sized patching repairs, and small‑scale resurfacing and associated works, as well as providing support during emergency and severe weather events ‘where necessary'.
