Ealing Council has begun preliminary engagement on a maintenance term contract worth up to £168m.
Expected to run for seven years, the contract is currently slated to start on 1 April 2027 and conclude by 1 April 2032, but the council has also allowed for a possible extension to 1 April 2034.
The contract is split into two lots, which will cover the following works:
Lot 1 - Highways Maintenance Works (HMW): Expected to include reactive maintenance; emergency highway maintenance, with 24-hour 365-day callout availability; planned maintenance; a full regime of winter maintenance; drainage maintenance; signing and lining for carriageways, footways, cycle tracks and other areas as required; and vehicle crossings for residential and commercial sites.
Lot 2 - Highway & Civil Improvements (HCI): Engineering works; works related to planning approvals, including section 38/278 works, and section 106 or CIL-funded schemes; parking schemes such as Controlled Parking Zone implementation; signage and markings; structural and civil engineering works; utilities and drainage works; controlled parking zone including signing and carriageway lining; footway and carriageway works to housing estates, schools or parks; and site set-up and pre-construction activities.
Those wishing to take part in the pre-market engagement should complete the survey provided by Ealing Council before 7 July.
Following this, the council has stated that it expects to publish the tender notice by 14 August.
