Via East Midlands, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nottinghamshire County Council, has signed two new partnership deals worth a total £150m, covering surfacing and treatments work.

Both partnerships follow a similar model designed to create 'a more strategic and collaborative approach to highway service delivery and value for money'.

'This strategy will promote increased joint engagement, support Early Contractor Involvement, and enable a low-carbon circular economy operating model,' Via East Midlands said.

Robinson's Paver Hire and Tarmac have won places on Via's new £90m Highway Surfacing Delivery Partnership Contract, which runs for a three-year initial term with two possible one-year extensions, following an NEC4 Term Services arrangement.

The initial period runs until 31 March 2029, with the extensions taking it through to 31 March 2031.

The contract features 'a performance management framework that incentivises and rewards a one-team approach and excellent highway service delivery by linking work scope share and potential contract extensions'.

In the contract announcement, Via East Midlands suggested the work could cover carriageway resurfacing as well as reconstruction, recycling, ironwork adjustment, and related work, including road marking and road studs.

Via also announced that Eurovia Infrastructure is the sole supplier on its new £60m Surface Treatments Partnership Contract, which runs for the same time period and also uses the NEC4 Term Services arrangement.

It covers surface treatment work, including carriageway surface dressing, micro-asphalt, in-situ recycling, ironwork adjustment, and related work, such as road marking and road studs.
