Gloucestershire County Council has successfully procured a new road intelligence platform from Australian road data company Compass IoT, a tool that the council claims will ‘fundamentally reshape' how it understands risks and delivers interventions on the county's roads.

In a statement made on social media, the head of road safety for Gloucestershire CC, Jwan Kamla, said: ‘This is not just about adopting new technology. It's about making every journey safer. It's about empowering GCC teams, our Police partners, and our consultants with meaningful, actionable intelligence — so we can act earlier, faster, and smarter.'

Valued at £28,800, the contract will operate as a one-year trial of the product between 27 October 2025 and 12 October 2026. During that time, the council will use the road intelligence platform to collect road traffic safety data from across its network.

Compass IoT has been approached for comment.
