West Berkshire Council has given Marlborough Highways the nod for a major term maintenance contract.
While the contract is currently still in a standstill period until 24 June, a contract award notice published by the council stated that Marlborough Highways had been awarded the £180m, decade-long contract.
With an initial seven-year span, the contract is set to run from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2033, with a possible three-year extension until 30 September 2036.
The council added that the £180m value of the contract (£150m before VAT) ‘may be increased to reflect Local Government Reorganisation', with a possibility to increase the total value to ‘as much as' £300m.
It added: ‘The outcome of the proposal is unknown and therefore there is no guarantee that the contract will increase in value.'
Full details of the contract can be found here.
