Miles Macadam has won Blackpool Council's £4m collaborative innovation contract for grouted macadam road maintenance.
The Hampton Heath-based construction company was appointed to the contract through a call off the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) innovation procurement system via the SPARK dynamic purchasing system (DPS).
It was the only company to submit a tender for the work.
Under this contract, Miles Macadam will maintain the Blackpool highway network and is expected to deliver a provable reduction in carbon emissions compared to traditional road maintenance methods of ‘greater than 25%'. The quality to price weighting was 70/30.
By using the LCRIG procurement process, Blackpool Council hopes that this contract will be able to provide an ‘innovative solution' to the city,
This contract will run until March 2027, with the option for two separate one-year extensions.
