Almost two score (39) of contractors have been appointed to Scotland Excel's four-year engineering and technical consultancy framework worth an estimated £160m.
Running from 22 May this year until 21 May 2030, the contract is split into nine lots:
- Lot 1: Roads and Structures
- Lot 2: Transportation and Traffic
- Lot 3: Environmental
- Lot 4: Land Surveying
- Lot 5: Drainage and Flooding
- Lot 6: Geoenvironmental and Geotechnical
- Lot 7: Coastal and Maritime
- Lot 8: Master Planning
- Lot 9: Project and commercial management
This framework provides 32 Scottish local authorities and over 90 public sector bodies with access to engineering and technical consultancy services for the duration of the contract.
Companies that won big with this contract award include WSP and Tetra Tech Consulting, which were both appointed across all nine lots.
AECOM, Amey, Arcadis, AtkinsRéalis UK, Jacobs and Mott MacDonald were appointed to all but Lot 4 and Jeremy Benn Associates and RSK Environment were appointed to all but Lot 9.
Cllr John Shaw, convener of Scotland Excel, said: ‘Scottish councils regularly require specialist engineering and technical services in order to plan and implement the wide range of investment projects and improvement works that are delivered within their communities.
‘I welcome the launch of our second generation Engineering and Technical Consultancy contract, which will give local authorities quick access to a range of suppliers, while also bringing efficiencies for councils. The framework is also good for business as the 39 UK- based suppliers are a mix of micro, small, medium and large companies.'
