Ringway Infrastructure Services has begun work on a major new maintenance contract with Hertfordshire County Council, which could be worth up to £1.95bn.

Originally tendered in 2023, the contract will see Ringway provide a ‘new, flexible and collaborative arrangement' in which they would manage, improve and maintain the county's road network whilst introducing innovations and best practices and optimising service efficiency.

The contract has an initial term of seven years, worth around £385m, which started on 1 October and will end in 2032. However, the council has also included the option to extend the deal to a maximum of 21 years taking the value up to almost £2bn.
