Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council has tendered a road markings contract valued at £5.844m.

Running from 1 February 2027 to 31 January 2032, the contract allows for a possible extension to 31 January 2035 that brings the total length to eight years.

Work included will range from ad-hoc single locations to larger works related to completed resurfacing schemes. The council noted that ‘access to many locations may be limited' and will require a pre-inspection and ‘the provision of no waiting cones and/or advanced warning notifications'.

It also expects the appointed contractor to ‘ensure in advance that the surface upon which the road marking material is to be laid is in a satisfactory condition'. If it isn't, it will be responsible for informing the engineer and postponing the works ‘until the surface is completed to a satisfactory condition'.

The kinds of markings expected under the contract include regulatory and safety markings, parking and kerbside restrictions, traffic flow and guidance markings, and symbols and legends.

Those wishing to enquire about the contract must do so by 7 September, with tenders due for submission by 14 September.

The council expects to announce the successful supplier by 9 November.
