Leicestershire County Council has appointed Smith Bros to a £9m street lighting and signage contract.
Initially running from 15 June 2026 to 14 June 2029, the contract leaves room for the possibility of two extensions of a year each, bringing the total run time to five years, and the end date to June 2031.
Under the deal, Smith Bros will be responsible for the supply and delivery of highways street lighting and signage to Leicestershire County Council, including both improvements and maintenance works.
According to the contract award notice, Smith Bros were one of six companies to submit a tender. With three making it through to the final stage, Smith Bros beat BEI Marwood Lighting Solutions and Exterior Lighting Solutions to the work.
