Coventry City Council has appointed suppliers to 11 lots from its plant and operator hire framework, with multiple contracts valued at a total of just over £9m.
Lot 1, which looked for suppliers that can provide 180-degree excavators with bucket and lifting forks, had the largest estimated value - £5m – and saw Colden Plant Hire, Lee Parker Plant, P & A Castle and Sam Twining Plant all appointed.
Simplicity CIS was the only supplier appointed to both Lots 2 and 3, which were valued at £180,000 each and will see the company provide telehandlers both up to and including 10-meter reach and over 10-meter reach.
Simplicity was also appointed to Lots 6, 7, 8 and 9 alongside Lee Parker Plant. Each of these lots was also valued at £180,000 and would see both companies provide the council with tracked excavators with various-sized ditching buckets, alongside operators for each of the vehicles.
The remaining lots – 4, 10, 11 and 12 – were all awarded to John Hughes Haulage. Lot 4 was valued at £180,000 and covers the provision of an 80-tonne low loader. Lots 10 and 12 were both valued at £960,000 and will see the company provide both a 4-wheeler 18 tonne gross/10 tonne capacity with dropside and an 8-wheeler 32 tonne gross/20 tonne capacity, respectively. Finally, Lot 11 was valued at £840,000 and covered a 6-wheeler 26 tonne gross/16 tonne capacity.
Each contract was signed between July and September of this year, and all conclude on 13 July 2030, meaning that the lengths range from three years and nine months to four years.
