WSP has appointed Sharif Narouz as its new major programme director for the UK and Ireland.

Previously the programme director for the Atomic Weapons Establishment's (AWE) future materials campus initiative, he spent three years renewing facilities used for the manufacturing and storage of nuclear components and materials.

Mr Narouz began his career as an engineer for Laing O'Rourke and has since held positions at Crossrail as supply chain director and with Transport for London (TfL), where he spent 12 years as head of programme enhancements.

Graeme Forbes, WSP's head of project, cost and commercial management, said: 'Sharif's appointment reflects our ambition to grow our major commissions capability and deliver exceptional outcomes for clients. His leadership experience and industry insight will be invaluable as we continue to shape and deliver some of the UK and Ireland's most significant programmes from inception through to completion.'

Mr Narouz added: 'I'm excited to join WSP and contribute to delivering some of the UK and Ireland's most complex and transformative programmes. I look forward to working with colleagues and clients to drive innovation and create lasting value.'
